The Journey to PEOPLE magazine

Many people have asked how PEOPLE magazine found me.  Well, if anyone knows me, they know I tend to seek out my own opportunities.  I may be one of the most impatient people I know.  Every year PEOPLE comes out with the "Half Their Size" issue, and for the past 4 years I have thought about submitting my photos.  Last year when the issue came out, I was ready.  I made it my New Year's Resolution to not only submit my photos, but to get in the issue.  That was the mindset I needed to have.  So on my birthday, June 19th, I submitted my photos.  I also submitted my photos every single day for two weeks after that. Some might think that is excessive, I like to think of it as persistent.

Like I said, when I want something I REALLLLLLLY  want something. I thought two weeks of constant "Conner Rensch before and after photos" was probably sufficient, and I was right! After about 2 months I got the email I had been waiting for.  I got the "we got all your emails, and we are interested in your story" email.  Yes! My semi-stalking worked! After a lot of back and forth emails asking how I lost the weight (I will get into that at some point), my life story (God help us when I get into that), and everything in between, I got the call that I had been chosen.  After sobbing in my car listening to "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson, I called the only two people PEOPLE magazine allowed me to tell, my mom and dad.  Many tears of joy were shed, and there was one thing I knew.  I was headed to LA for a photo shoot!!!!!

Got something to add?
